Last month, Kiva, launched the World Refugee Fund to support lending to refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities. Kiva launched the Fund because it believes there is a growing and long-term need among refugees and host communities to access financial services and jobs. Yet, few traditional financial service providers are serving refugees, leaving them with limited economic mobility and opportunities. Throughout 2017, Kiva expects to deploy USD 2.9M in loans to refugees and IDPs and an additional USD 6M to host communities in Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey. Read more here.
